Characterisation of technical textiles

Contexte et objectifs
One of the world's leading suppliers of innovative technical textiles for markets as diverse as the automotive industry, healthcare, energy and clothing, has decided to improve its knowledge of its materials in order to enhance their performance and remain at the cutting edge of technology.
Requirement
Non-contact, accurate (sub-micron) measurement of the width reduction of a non-woven textile sample.
Non-contact measurement is absolutely essential to avoid altering the material behaviour and causing premature sample breakage.
The same applies to the absence of marking, which was requested by the customer to avoid human intervention as much as possible and thus modify the actual material data.
 
Constraints
  • No marking required
  • Integration with existing equipment (MTS electro-mechanical machine and communication with Testworks machine software to send measurements in real time for perfect data synchronisation (force, deformation, crosshead displacement)
  • No human intervention: the FVX video extensometer software is entirely controlled by the Testworks machine software, which automatically launches the software, loads a configuration file and starts measuring and sending data to the control software.
Solution
Our FVX striction system allows measurement on textiles, as expected by this laboratory.
